Zimbabwe Assists 660 Nationals Returning from South Africa

The Zimbabwean government says it has facilitated the return of 660 citizens from South Africa and will keep supporting others who want to come back.

Information Secretary Nick Mangwana posted the update on X, noting that authorities are focused on the safety and welfare of Zimbabweans abroad.

He advised anyone needing help to reach out to Zimbabwe’s diplomatic missions in South Africa.

“We have assisted 660 Zimbabweans to return home from South Africa. Government remains committed to ensuring no one is left behind,” Mangwana wrote.

“Those requiring assistance should contact our embassies and consulates.”

The repatriations happen as many Zimbabweans in South Africa continue to face challenges including xenophobic violence, immigration raids, job losses, and economic pressure.

South Africa hosts one of the largest Zimbabwean diaspora populations, with many working there formally and informally.

Zimbabwe’s embassies in Pretoria and consulates in Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Durban usually handle documentation, travel permits, and transport arrangements for citizens seeking voluntary return.
